The Clinton, New York, community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Gavin Mosher, a courageous 14-year-old whose inspiring battle with leukemia touched the lives of countless people. After fighting the disease with extraordinary strength for 13 months, Gavin passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family.
In a deeply emotional message, Gavin’s family shared the devastating news of his passing, describing him as their “beautiful, brave boy” whose courage never wavered despite the unimaginable challenges he faced.
“Gavin fought this unimaginable battle with the absolute heart of a lion,” his family wrote. “He faced every single hurdle, every hospital stay, and every terrifying twist with a strength and resilience that left us in awe of him. He is our hero.”

Before his diagnosis, Gavin was a vibrant and accomplished young man with an exciting future ahead. A member of the Clinton Central School District, he had recently been accepted into the Modules of Integrated Technologies (MiTech) program, an achievement reflecting both his curiosity and academic promise. The program prepares students for careers in technical education and skilled trades, an opportunity Gavin eagerly anticipated.
Athletics were another important part of Gavin’s life. He excelled in modified track and was a dedicated player in Clinton Youth Hockey, where teammates and coaches admired his determination, grit, and leadership. His hard work earned him a coveted place on the 2025–26 16U Statebound Team, a milestone that reflected his passion and commitment to the sport.
Those closest to Gavin remember him as tenacious, adventurous, funny, resilient, and endlessly kind. Whether on the ice, in the classroom, or among friends, he possessed an infectious spirit that inspired everyone around him. Even during his battle with leukemia, he continued to demonstrate remarkable courage, becoming a symbol of hope for his entire community.
Gavin is survived by his loving parents, Ashley and Andrew Mosher, his younger sister, Camryn, and countless relatives, teammates, classmates, coaches, and friends whose lives were forever changed by knowing him.
