The East Hempfield Township community in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, is mourning the tragic loss of Elyse Adolph, who died following a violent stabbing inside her family’s home on Monday, July 20, 2026. Police identified the suspect as 26-year-old Bryan Adolph. Court documents state that the dispute escalated when he allegedly armed himself with a kitchen knife and attacked his 28-year-old sister, Elyse Adolph, inflicting multiple stab wounds. Investigators say Bryan later told officers he believed he had stabbed his sister approximately 20 times.
During the attack, Elyse’s 24-year-old brother reportedly attempted to intervene in an effort to protect her. He sustained a stab wound to his arm but was able to escape the residence and call for emergency assistance. He was transported for medical treatment and is expected to recover from his injuries.
Following the incident, police say Bryan Adolph went upstairs, showered, and fled the home on foot before officers arrived.
A large-scale search involving East Hempfield Township Police, the Pennsylvania State Police Aviation Unit, K-9 teams, and additional law enforcement resources was launched. Approximately 90 minutes later, officers located Bryan Adolph near Good Drive, roughly three miles from the residence, and took him into custody without further incident.
The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Elyse Adolph died from the injuries she sustained during the attack. Her death has been officially ruled a homicide.
Bryan Adolph has been charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and possession of an instrument of crime. He remains in custody while the investigation and court proceedings continue.
